Véronique Schaffar lives in Paris.
Her job as an architect and her passion for travel have sharpened her gaze: photography was thus an obvious choice.
Véronique Schaffar’s photographic work is essentially marked by the diversity of the more than eighty countries she has visited, from Asia to South America, through Africa.
Her approach is unique, aesthetic and poetic.
Lone photographer mesmerized by what is out there, she hunts for unique atmospheres and offers us another perspective of the world, by giving free rein to our imagination.
Away from mass tourism, she refuses all exoticism and hunts for singular atmospheres.
Her photographs reflect a certain melancholy, a nostalgia for the passing of time.
The underlying theme is one of nomadic solitude, of selective remembrance, and even of fading memories.
Human figure is often absent from her photographs, except sometimes as “a scale reminder”: it seems then lost in the immensity of the city or landscape. Human being is
mainly referred to by the works or traces he leaves.
The white sky conveys this “erasure” and allows to graphically link her photographic series.
Diverse memorable experiences and encounters have enriched her journey.
